Life is full of minor decisions that affect your life in small and large ways. Turn left when you should have turned right, zig when you should have zagged and all of a sudden, your life takes a dramatic turn for the good or the bad. Even choosing coffee or tea for your afternoon pick me up at work could have consequences.
Maybe you choose the herbal tea, a calm soothing way to relax and unwind at the end of a long day. Little did you know that a major project would come in demanding your full attention and you’ve just been lulled into a relaxed state by some chamomile.
Perhaps you go bold and choose hot chocolate. Your boss sees your innovative, buck the trend nature and gives you a promotion. The old standby coffee will perk you up in the afternoon but might give you terrible breath that then sinks your meeting with a potential client, turned off by your coffee odour.
Thankfully, choosing a beverage at work usually isn’t so fraught with monumental importance. It is nice to have options, though. Coffee with creamer might fuel those late night work sessions or help you out on a morning when you stayed out too late the night before. Tea can calm those frayed nerves after a particularly bad meeting or tough discussions with clients and coworkers. And hot chocolate just sometimes tastes really good when you need a warm, tasty treat on a cold winter morning.
Life gives us a lot of options. Some of the choices we make will have grand repercussions for years to come. Others, like picking coffee or tea in the afternoon, matter a little less. But, make sure you have choices by keeping a well-stocked beverage station at your office.
